  1. If only we'd put this together years ago! I've got pretty much nothing ebooks on the go these days, which are just as enjoyable but sadly less put-in-the-mailable. The Road is amazing, but... bleak. At least it's not about a pandemic, though.

  4. Ooh, @Lilly.O.4 you have some good ones on there. Stolen Things is a super page-turner (though not not-stressful!), and The Body in Question is one of my favourite books I read in 2019. Gracefully Grayson is a must-read for all of society; it's super. I'll add The Garden of Small Beginnings to my list! I just read Nina Hill a couple of weeks ago. ❤️ I'm currently reading Magic for Liars, by Sarah Gailey. It's like a magical/not-magical detective story from what I can tell a couple of chapters in. Loving it so far! I tend toward the dark in my reading preferences (faves include The Road, Blindness, and an adolescent devouring of Stephen King), but I'm not able to really go dark these days so have been reading lots of romance novels, and Magic for Liars was recommended by someone on Twitter as an amazing escape.

  11. Thanks so much for getting this going, @angelak!
  12. I'm gonna to Full Geek here. I'm currently reading a lighthearted romance novel called Well Met. It's about Renaissance Faire. I've never been to one, but it has me thinking loads about cosplay. This coming weekend, we're going to hook up via Facetime with the family we play Dungeons & Dragons with, and some of us are totally dressing up as our characters. In part, I'm thinking about how much the characters in this novel love escaping into their personas, and I think that kind of escape will feel amazing right now.

  15. Big event coming. Will we have to cancel it? Just need to decide. This has been the all-consuming issue for me (leading to lots and lots of stress knitting!).
  16. I've got the Montlake T-shirt pattern by @Kimberly Payne, a serger I barely know how to use, and some fabric I've been collecting over the years!

    1. Jean S.

      Jean S.

Thank you for the warm welcome! I have been listening to your podcast and with each episode I feel like you are talking about the very things I am thinking about/struggling with. I appreciate the little gentle push to participate in a larger forum rather than living in my head. Thank you!

I think you'll find just that here, Jean! And if there's something on your mind that isn't being discussed yet, please do dive in and bring it up. 🙂

  22. Ugh. @Alice Creason I'm so sorry to hear about the complications from surgery. Can nothing in life ever go smoothly? This is a question I've been asking a lot lately, with fists balled up and shaken at the skies. Sometimes mindlessly scrolling Facebook or watching videos is all we can expect of ourselves while our body is wrecked and fighting so hard to heal. Sometimes, that's exactly what we need. Sounds like you're trying to maintain life status quo even as you've been feeling dreadful. That's a tall order, my friend, and one I suspect no one expects of you but yourself. Are there folks at work who can help unburden you of your work-related obligations? Surely no one will expect you to be working hard while you recover from surgery? Please don't feel an obligation to this group right now, but please do count on us for company through the magic of the internet, and for talk of creativity while your body and mind work up the strength to make things. Sending much love!
